Morris Broadband Sponsors Celebration of the Arts

July 10, 2009, Henderson County, North Carolina -- The Arts Council of Henderson County announces a major fall project, “The Arts Council Presents …,” a first-time marketing festival that will publicize and promote Henderson County arts and cultural events and activities occurring around October 2 – 11, 2009. 

Ruth Birge, former publisher of the Times-News is the Honorary Chair and Morris Broadband is the premier sponsor.  Additional support is being provided by Henderson County Travel & Tourism, Bold Life, Times-News and Summit Marketing Group.

“The Arts Council Presents ….” features two of the area’s major fall cultural events, the 50^th Anniversary of Art on Main (October 2 – 4) and the Open Studio Tour (October 10 – 11).  Other events include: Marty’s El Paso at Flat Rock Playhouse; Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream – Southern Style by the Absolute Theatre Company at the Blue Ridge Performing Arts Center, God’s Favorite at the Hendersonville Little Theatre, and Dear Zelda at The ®evolving Arts Gallery and the Historic Courthouse.  Music will include the final concert of the season of Summer Music in Flat Rock and Keyboard Brilliance by the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra with special guest Marina Lomazov.

According to Doug Jarvis, Vice President of The Arts Council, “We believe that ‘The Arts Council Presents ….’ will promote the overall quality, diversity and quantity of our arts and cultural activities, events and organizations to a much wider audience.”   Asked why Morris Broadband is involved, Mike Kai, Director of Sales and Marketing responded, “We are part of the community and we think it is important for us to be good corporate citizens.  The arts are essential to Henderson County and we want to do our part to promote the arts as important to our quality of life.”

The Arts Council of Henderson County is a community organization that advocates for the arts and provides opportunities to enrich the lives of children and adults through the arts by offering exhibits, art education and performances.  The Arts Council, which is handicapped accessible, is located at 538 North Main Street, 2^nd Floor (the corner of 6^th Avenue and Main) in Hendersonville.
